What is Ganoderma Lucidum?

Ganoderma lucidum, known in Chinese culture as Reishi or Lingzhi and used to promote wellness, vitality and immunity in humans, has been part of traditional Asian medicines for many years.

Ganoderma Lucidum (or Ganoderma in short) is among the most widely used mushrooms in modern medical practice. Its anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antiviral properties make it a powerful immune booster. Furthermore, this mushroom can directly stimulate human natural killer cell activity thereby increasing their activity levels and stimulating them directly.

Ganoderma also has anti-depressant properties, as well as analgesic and antibacterial properties. It is used to treat hepatitis and bronchitis among other infectious diseases.

Reishi mushroom belongs to the Ganodermataceae Basidiomycetes. It has been used in Traditional Chinese Medicine for centuries to increase longevity and vitality. Reishi Extract contains polysaccharides as well triterpenes as well proteins with diverse biological properties, such anti-inflammatory, immune modulatory and diabetes treatments. Studies indicate that Ganoderic Acid A could exert a variety of biological activities, including anti-inflammatory and diabetes treatments1.

Reishi mushrooms form a major component of many natural products, especially those produced and distributed in Japan. Reishi is widely used in skincare, food and traditional medicine. It also appears in supplements and dietary drinks in North America.

Reishi contains more than 100 oxygenated terpenes. It has been studied for its ability to stimulate natural killer cell activity and boost overall immunity. Reishi also has antiviral, anti-inflammatory, and wound healing properties; plus it reduces oxidative stress in livers. Reishi has also been shown to protect rats against radiation-induced and chemotherapy-induced toxicities.

How is Ganoderma Lucidum raised?

Ganoderma lucidum, commonly referred to as "red reishi," is one of numerous species known as the "red reishi." This bracket fungus or shelf fungus has an attractive reddish color. It can reach up to 40 inches in length, width, and thickness. The adaptogenic properties are believed to exist and the fungus is cultivated as a healing benefit. Ganoderma alone has over 400 varieties, with applanatum (for medicinal purposes) and lucidum (for aesthetic purposes).

Ganoderma is a polypore basidiomycota fungus that has been grown for centuries in East Asian cultures. Its immune-boosting and health-strengthening properties have made it a popular choice. Reishi is known to reduce stress, increase longevity and improve sexual vigilance. This reishi blend combines the powders, extracts and capsules available.

This study was designed to establish the optimal growth parameters of G. lucidum on potato dextrose (PDA) slants and plates. Our results showed the mycelial expansion increased as temperature rose up to 30degC. It then peaked, and then decreased.

The benefits of medicinal mushrooms on human health are well known and highly valued. Ganoderma is a popular variety of medicinal mushrooms that has been valued by many for years. It's known for its numerous health benefits, and is often referred to the king or red of medicinal mushrooms because of its reddish colour and numerous health benefits.

Reishi can be used for hypertension, insomnia or other diseases. The fungus contains active compounds like triterpenes and polysaccharides which may contribute to its medicinal qualities.

Reishi mushrooms thrive best on hardwood trees like oak, birch, beech and alder trees but can also be found growing wild along hedges and parkwaysides. Reishi has been used as medicine for over 4000 years as it is recognized for its health-strengthening, anti-inflammatory and immune-supportive qualities as well as being rich in minerals such as iron potassium and zinc.

Why is Ganoderma Lucidum a good thing?

Ganoderma Lucidum possesses powerful antioxidant and immune-enhancing properties, notably its polysaccharide beta-glucans. Additionally, this powerful plant has shown to help protect against free-radicals.

Maca, as an adaptogen, is a powerful source of balance and comfort during stressful times, thanks to the beta-glucans that it contains. Beta-glucans boost immune functions, while also promoting circulation health.

Reishi (also known as Rei Sheng in Japanese) is widely believed by many to have anti-inflammatory and endurance-enhancing properties. It also helps with fatigue, depression and improves sleep quality.

Ganoderma lucidum can help lower cholesterol by way of its rich supply of peptides that can reduce both blood cholesterol and triglyceride levels, as well as polysaccharides like triterpenes and beta-glucans that contain triterpenes and beta-glucans to decrease LDL (bad) and increase HDL (good) levels.

Both forms of G. Lucidum extracts (ethanolic or water-soluble) have many of the same beneficial compounds as water-soluble ones. However, due to ethanolic extraction's inability to separate triterpenes or polysaccharides for maximum efficacy, it is wise to combine both forms for maximum benefits.

Studies have demonstrated that G. lucidum can inhibit adipocyte differentiation and produce hypoglycaemic effects, as well as promote immune function to increase resistance against diseases. Reishi also contains polysaccharides that have shown efficacy.

Ganoderma is an extraordinary mushroom due to its unique growing conditions. The harvesting process can be a challenge: to get 1 kg from 1,000kg spores, you need to harvest 1,000kg! In addition, it is difficult to collect the spores without crushing them. This makes it one of the most expensive supplements on the marketplace. However, at ORGANO we have perfected this process so you can reap its many advantages via our supplements and enjoy all their incredible health benefits in an organic format - providing our customers with high-quality 100% organic Reishi.

What is the best method to take Ganoderma lucidum?

We recommend water-soluble Ganoderma Lucidum extracts to maximize its benefits. While water-soluble extracts might be less concentrated than those made from ethanol, they still contain more of the beneficial compounds. Plus, they are easier to consume.

Our water soluble extract of Reishi combines the three components – spores and mycelium – into a potent blend, for maximum benefit and unique properties. Each part has its own unique properties. For example, spores contain high levels of antioxidants for immune support while mycelium connects them and is known for its antibacterial properties.

Reishi mushroom can be used in a variety of ways. Some people add it directly to their cooking, while other people take capsules or powdered supplement containing it. It has been proven to help treat a variety of conditions, ranging from arthritis and cancer to high blood pressure and chronic fatigue syndrome.

Reishi has been shown to increase energy levels, lower cholesterol levels and protect the heart against damage. Its anti-depressant and anti-anxiety properties have also been studied. Reishi polysaccharides have immunostimulatory qualities as they promote the proliferation of T and b lymphocytes, splenic mononuclear cells (SMC), natural killer cells (NK) and dendritic cell - providing many health benefits.

The mushrooms produced using plastic bags are rarer and therefore worth less. Our Ganoderma spores look like fine powdered rice and can only harvested during the natural life cycle of mushroom reproduction. They cannot be reproduced artificially. It takes 1,000kgs of this special powder to produce just 1 kg of our prized Reishi fungi used for best way to make mushroom tea our Poudre de Spores Ganoderma.
